Parks in DeLand 

Bill Dreggors Park 

Located at 230 North Stone Street, this park is named after a local historian and storyteller who dedicated his life to preserving and sharing the history of DeLand. The park features a sensory garden, Deland Memorial Hospital and Veterans Museum, a paved walking and jogging path, and Freedom playground. In addition, Deland Parks and Recreation Department Offices are also located at this park. This park is free to all and open daily from dawn to dusk.

 

Freedom Playground 

Also located at 230 North Stone Street, this park is themed like an early American settlement. The playground is designed to be accessible and inclusive for children of all abilities and ages. Since this playground is inclusive by design, there are swings, slides, tunnels, bridges, and more. In addition, there are water misting locations in the park to keep families cool.

Hontoon Island State Park 

This state park is located at 2309 River Ridge Road in DeLand on a 1,650-acre island in the St. John’s River. Numerous activities, including boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and wildlife watching, can be enjoyed in the park. There is free admission; however, there are fees for camping and cabins. Depending on the weather, the park is open every day from 8 a.m. to an hour before sunset.

 

Earl Brown Park 

Located at 750 South Alabama Avenue in DeLand is Earl Brown Park. This large park features a playground, a dog park, an amphitheater, a skate park, a basketball court, and more! Admission is free for this park. Additionally, there are community events held here as well.

 

Blue Springs State Park

Located at 2100 West French Avenue in Orange City is Blue Springs State Park. This state park is home to the largest spring on the St. Johns River. It is also a designated manatee refuge. There are a variety of activities that are allowed at Blue Springs State Park including swimming, snorkeling, tubing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and more! Unlike other parks in the DeLand area, there is an admission fee ranging from $4-$6 and additional fees for camping, rentals, and tours. Also, the park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset.

 

Chisholm Center Playground 

Chisholm Center Playground is at 520 South Clara Avenue in DeLand. This playground is part of the Chisholm Community Center, a center providing various programs and services for community members of all ages. The playground features many obstacles and inventive play components to allow children’s creativity to run wild. 

 

Lake Beresford Park 

Lake Beresford Park is at 2100 Fatio Road in DeLand. This park is over 200 acres with access to the Spring-to-Spring Trail. Admission is free and it is open from dawn to dusk. In addition to the Spring-to-Spring Trail access, there are two walking nature trails, two playgrounds, two pavilions as well as other amenities here. 

 

Barkley Square Dog Park 

At 1010 North Ridgewood Avenue in DeLand is Barkley Square Dog Park. Open from sunrise to sunset, this park is a paradise for dogs. The dog park features areas designated for dogs of different sizes, water stations, benches, and more! Not to mention, there is a pond in the large dog area that many dogs enjoy.

 

Ed Stone Park 

Ed Stone Park is at 2990 West State Road 44 in DeLand. This is a free park that has free boat ramp access to the St.Johns River. This park features a boat ramp, fishing pier, picnic pavilion, and restrooms. Also, Ed Stone Park is open daily.

 

Spring Hill Park 

Located at 1200 South Spring Garden Avenue in DeLand is Spring Hill Park. At this park, there is a playground, picnic tables, a half-basketball court, restrooms, and benches. This park is free to the public and is open from sunrise to sunset.

 

Jackson Lane Park 

Located at 720 North Frankfort Avenue in DeLand is Jackson Lane Park. This park features a playground, nature trail, and basketball court. In addition, this park has been recently renovated with a new playground that keeps inclusivity in mind. Also, the basketball court was refurbished and some new seating has been added as well. The park is open daily and is free to enjoy. 

 

Sunflower Park 

Sunflower Park is located at 197 E Church St. in DeLand. This park has a walking path, a water feature, a stage area, and picnic tables. Sunflower Park is open daily and admission is free.
